RFID, NFC or QR for DPP?
QR, NFC and RAIN RFID perform different jobs. A good carrier strategy starts with the user, environment, readpoint and lifecycle event—not a preferred technology.
QR and Data Matrix
Visual codes are low-cost, easy to print and widely accessible from smartphones. They require line of sight and are normally scanned one at a time.
NFC
NFC enables deliberate short-range tap interactions. It can support premium engagement and optional authentication, although chip and security choices affect cost.
RAIN RFID
RAIN RFID identifies many serialized items automatically without line of sight. Inlay selection, placement, product interference and reader design must be tested in the real process.
Hybrid identity
A frequent architecture uses RAIN RFID for manufacturing, logistics and inventory, while QR or NFC resolves the synchronized identity for consumers and service partners.
