GS1 Digital Link and EPCIS for Product Traceability

Resolvable identity

GS1 Digital Link can express GS1 identifiers in web addresses so one product identity can resolve to different digital resources for consumers, partners or applications.

Event visibility

EPCIS provides a standard way to describe what happened, when, where, why and to which objects. Events can represent commissioning, packing, shipping, receiving, transformation and other business steps.

Architecture before syntax

Define identifiers, ownership, source systems, access and lifecycle use cases before selecting a message format. Standards support the architecture; they do not replace governance or process design.
